I love the concept of using a blog as a global "pen pal" agent. Here are some suggestions for discussion topics: aspirations, dreams, future, stories, siblings, family life, travel.
Having a way to add photos of classes, class-mates, students, teachers, schools and sports would be a great visual to include to the corresponding conversation topics.
well yeah pictures and stuff would help and posting more and more topics and allowing other peopel t post things of their interest like talking about different cultures and holidays and religons would be great!
picturs and more topics should do it!
