Close the Gap

The gap between rich and poor continues to grow in America. The middle class is shrinking. In your opinion, how could we close the gap between rich and poor?

I think in order to close the gap, we could fund education better. If schools had all the money they needed, maybe kids would achieve better. It also seems like poor schools get less money, making them more disadvantaged. If they are disadvantaged from elementary school on, then they poor stay poor. Or maybe make college free, or at least more affordable. My parents can't afford to send me to college, so what do I do? Go and get tons of student loans. I can't believe the richest country in the world, can't afford to EDUCATE their youth. Pathetic. George Bush sucks!!

tax the crap out of the rich and create more of a balance between social classes. call me a socialist, but there needs to be equal access to equal education, healthcare, etc. and maybe stop spending billions of dollars on a war that nobody wants.

I think to close the gap, we could have more schools for people that are poor, have more charities to give the money to the people, and much much more. The money for charities really needs to be given to the people not to charities them selves!

I think we should give money to the poor. The governmet has TONS of money! But the government only spends it on weapons. Did you know that all the money spent on weapons could make all children have a school. Our government needs to have a kind mind! Where is the love?:(

we should have public "free" schools so the gap would not be so big. We should have good jobs open to every one not just the rich and middle class. That could help a little but there is always going to be a gap between us.

I think to close the gap, we must give the poor peopl that live on the streets money and just build a bunch of houses or places for people to go for food and shelter. I also think that 50 penny will move to Slovakia and join the navy.

I think that EVERYONE needs to be educated the same way. Not to have people in seventh grade in eighth grade math. They might be smart but they shouldn't just skip a grade in their school year. It is just so not cool. People who aren't smart should just stay in that grade of whatever they are in and same with the people with a higher IQ. It shouldn't mater that each person is different and be treated wrong. But THAT EVERY PERSON SHOULD BE TREATED THE SAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is What it ia all about.

We need better education for everyone on the effects of our economic gaps. Now in the US the average CEO earns 300 times the pay of an average worker. ($10 million vs. about $30000) The top 1% earns 21% of the wealth while the bottom 50% receives just 12%. The top people may not be happy if they live in fear of a population who is unhappy because it is hungry, unhealthy, homeless or strugging to keep their homes together, while having little time or energy to raise children properly. "Tell the rich of the midnight sighing of the poor." Wouldn't they rather live in a world where they may get only 30 times or even 50 times as much as the poor -- but the "poor" are at least better fed, housed, educated and cared for and are applying their creative energies to making society a better place? We need a healthy middle class, a spirit of unity, vision of what we can be, and opportunities and means to realize the hopes and dreams of all our lives.
